I spend a lot of time walking in around my home near the coast in Ceredigion. There are animals, both land based and marine and birds all around me who add to the identity of Mid Wales. There’s the expected wildlife, of which the area is famous for but also, the farms, which create a patchwork along the coast are also populated by animals. And then the visiting animals. Those that walk the coastal path and run on the beaches with their owners. All of this is part of the overall atmosphere that I find inspiring.
These works will be painted in my distinctive style with an emphasis of capturing the ordinary as well as the extraordinary. As this series of paintings they are based on recognisable ‘residents’ and ‘visitors’ within the local environment.
