I've just arrived home from a wonderful evening (yesterday). It was my first time exhibiting with the Royal Watercolour Society of Wales and the venue was the Turner House Gallery in Penarth. It was a lovely private view evening and I met some of the other members which was fantastic. I had not visited Penarth before. What a lovely place.

We had a lovely workshop today. Wonderful work and great company. Mountains and Red Kites mainly today. Lovely welshcakes too, thank you Margaret!
And into the New Year.
In 2015 I set myself a challenge to draw every day. Although I didn't manage every day, 190 in total, I found that it really helped me with observation and I found new possibilities with my drawing. So I am going to set myself a similar challenge in 2017. Something creative every day. This time I'm not restricting myself to pencil alone and it could be just part of a painting or a quick sketch (hopefully) every day and then share it on Facebook and Twitter. Would you like to join me? Let me know. It could be fun! Its been a busy year so far at 'Art at Pengwernydd' with many more visitors this year with lots of repeat bookings! I have had a fantastic time! I love my job so much and have met so many wonderful people. We were still out on location last week, not bad for October! I'm currently exhibiting with Celf Canolbarth Cymru (Mid Wales Arts) at the Minerva Arts Centre, Llanidloes, Powys until the 8th November. It's a lovely venue, one we hope to revisit next year. I have, along with the usual wall hung pieces, greetings cards and browser items, some new prints on box canvas. They are also available in the Tourist Information Centres in Aberystwyth and Aberaeron, directly from me and shortly in the Bay Gallery, Pier Street, Aberystwyth.
The Christmas Card DesignsOh, I do like to be by the seaside....................................Ive moved! Firstly I must reassure you that nothing has changed Art at Pengwernydd will still be exactly where it always has been, on Margaret and Ivor's lovely farm, Pengwernydd. But I now live by the sea! And have a fantastic indoor studio! No longer the shed in the garden! We now live in a beautiful village called Llansantffraed, near to Llannon, right on the edge of Cardigan Bay. It's quite a well kept secret with a beautiful wild beach and a little ancient church. Very pretty and very quite. So, I'm going to introduce a coastal theme for visitors to Art at Pengwernydd to use for inspiration with some 'on location' trips out in the summer months.
Easter at Pengwernydd is a wonderful time. The new year full of new life. A beautiful place to hold our art workshops and for our visitors to experience this time of year with us. This weeks workshops have been amazing. We have had the pleasure of four very talented artists (and their families) staying at Pengwernydd this week. Beautiful paintings and great company. On the first day we took the fields and pastures of Pengwernydd as inspiration and on the second we looked at 'the romantic ruin'. I think some of the sunshine we have enjoyed this week has appeared in the paintings! Also, the first calf of the year was born yesterday. A beautiful boy! Hopefully the good weather will continue and the calves can join the lambs out in the fields.
The lambs at Pengwernydd are coming fast now. Lots of work for all of the family with lots of multiple births! The lambs are really enjoying the sunshine, playing in the fields around the farm.
On Saturday we are running an art workshop to try to capture this wonderful time of year. Starting at 10.30 at the Function Room, Pengwernydd. If you would like to come, or would like further information, just get in touch. art@pengwernydd.com or 07891919444 Im very happy to say that I now have this wonderful Weebly website! Please take a look an see whats going on with the workshops and on the farm.
